This is Toni Reed reporting live from inside the walls of University of West Florida (UWF) where I recently studied Broadcast Journalism, and finally made strides towards acquiring the tools necessary to attain my dream of becoming a Sports Reporter.
I have been lining up at the line of scrimmage with a goal of making it into the end zone for the game winning score, and will soon break the plane. Over the past years, I have lined up as a traveling Registered Nurse. While nursing has provided me a lucrative salary and helped me develop exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task in fast paced environments, it has failed to provide job satisfaction.
In an attempt to regain lost yardage, I am currently working at ESPN Pensacola, and recently served as a sports writer for Pensacola State’s campus newspaper The Corsair. These opportunities give me a glimpse into the exciting and demanding world of media, further fueling my passion. With each experience, the chains continue to move as I head for the goal line. A sports reporter position would be the momentum needed to propel forward not only myself but also your organization. My extensive interpersonal skills, mass media knowledge, high level of autonomy, boldness, charisma, and affection for all aspects of media will prove invaluable to you and are sure to put extra points on the scoreboard.
